LOS MOCHIS, SINALOA. In a hard-fought contest from start to finish, the Cañeros de Los Mochis leveled the series by taking Game 2 with a 4-3 decision over the Tomateros de Culiacán.
The first run for the Guinda squad arrived courtesy of an RBI single to right field by Jon Singleton, driving in Culiacán's opening run of the night.
Later in the eighth frame, JP Martínez launched his first home run of the campaign, hammering a solo shot deep into right field.
The Guinda squad battled until the end, trimming the deficit to just one run in the ninth inning thanks to a sacrifice fly to left field by Ichiro Cano that brought Luis Roberto Verdugo home for the third run, setting the final 4-3 score.
The night also marked the return to the mound for Édgar Arredondo, who pitched three complete innings in relief. The right-hander had not pitched for the team since January 25, 2025, when he saw action in Game 4 of the Championship Series against Jalisco.
The series concludes tomorrow with the rubber match in Los Mochis. Culiacán native Víctor Castañeda will take the mound for the Guinda squad, squaring off against Omar Araujo. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
