The Tomateros de Culiacán Baseball Club wrapped up their action in the 2026 Copa Gobernadora on Friday after facing the Cañeros de Los Mochis at Estadio Alberto Vega Chávez, with Los Mochis taking a 5-3 decision.

The Guinda squad got on the board in the third inning thanks to a clutch RBI double by Édgar "El Conejo" Robles, bringing home Cristian Lucero for Culiacán's first run of the night.

Later in the sixth frame, Luis Roberto Verdugo once again showcased his offensive firepower by driving a majestic two-run home run. With that blast, Verdugo brought his total to three home runs during the exhibition tournament in Guamúchil.

On the mound, the coaching staff led by Manager Lorenzo Bundy continued to manage workloads and evaluate their arms. Starter Édgar Arredondo got the nod, followed by bullpen appearances from Ricardo Estrada, Rafael Nava, Baltazar Arredondo, and Francisco Haro.

Following the conclusion of the tournament, the Guinda squad will return to the Sinaloan capital this Saturday to continue their preseason schedule. Tomateros will host the Venados de Mazatlán at Estadio Tomateros at 5:00 PM in a closed-door matchup, with right-hander Manny Barreda scheduled to start on the hill for Culiacán.
