CD. OBREGÓN, SONORA. In the series opener in Sonoran territory, the Yaquis de Ciudad Obregón capitalized on a five-run rally in the fourth inning to take Game 1, defeating the Tomateros de Culiacán 6-1.
The home team built their lead in the fourth frame, forcing Lorenzo Bundy’s squad to fight back from behind.
The response from the Sinaloan capital side arrived in the fifth inning when Román Alí Solís brought out the lumber, lining a single to left field to bring home Culiacán's sole run and break the shutout. With this RBI, Solís reached 196 for his career in the Liga Mexicana del Pacífico, leaving him just four shy of the 200-mark.
On the mound, the Guinda bullpen delivered a strong effort. Axel Sauceda pitched two complete innings allowing just one run while striking out three, while Pedro Reyes and Baltazar Arredondo combined for a pair of scoreless frames.
With this result, the Yaquis de Ciudad Obregón take the opening game of the series. Tomateros will turn the page immediately as they look to level the series this Wednesday in Cajeme, featuring a pitching matchup between Luis Cessa and Fineas Del Bonta-Smith.
