CULIACÁN, SINALOA. – The Tomateros de Culiacán Baseball Club continues to bolster its roster ahead of the 2026-2027 Liga Mexicana del Pacífico Banamex season. On Wednesday morning, American pitchers Seth Shuman and Tony Rossi officially reported to Guinda camp at the ISDE facilities, adding their quality and depth to the team's preparations.

The morning session kicked off at 9:30 a.m. with a group of players who remained in the Sinaloan capital to maintain their physical and technical routines while the rest of the squad prepared for their trip to Guamúchil.

Shuman, a 28-year-old right-hander, arrives in Culiacán following a standout campaign in the Seattle Mariners' Triple-A affiliate, where he posted a 4-0 record with a 1.93 ERA across 18.2 innings pitched. This season marks his first stint in Mexican winter baseball.

"Yeah, I'm super excited. I've heard a lot about the history of the team and all the success they've had. I'm really looking forward to getting out there and helping this team win a lot of games," stated Shuman.

Also reporting for his first practice was right-handed pitcher Tony Rossi. Rossi joins the club after an outstanding minor league season within the New York Yankees organization. The righty recorded a 6-1 mark and a 2.22 ERA, holding opposing batters to a meager .172 average while racking up 71 strikeouts against just 14 walks over the season.

"I've heard the fans are incredible. It's a whole new level of competition that I haven't faced yet, and I'm sure I'm going to love it," expressed Rossi.

Meanwhile, the Culichi squad is set to make its debut this afternoon in the Copa Gobernadora at Alberto Vega Chávez Stadium in Guamúchil, facing the Algodoneros de Guasave at 5:00 p.m. Right-hander Víctor "El Capuchino" Castañeda has been named the starting pitcher for the match.
