CULIACÁN, SINALOA. – The Tomateros de Culiacán successfully completed their second day of preseason training, staying focused on their goal of reaching peak physical condition for the start of the 2026-2027 Liga Mexicana del Pacífico (LMP) campaign.

Promptly at 8:25 A.M. this Saturday, the guindas reported to the foul line at the Instituto Sinaloense del Deporte (ISDE) facilities for the pre-workout meeting before kicking off an intense session.

Following stretching routines, the squad underwent a series of physical fitness tests before transitioning into specialized station work:

  • Pitching Staff: While one group of pitchers refined their location in the bullpen, the rest worked on defensive drills, focusing on first-base coverages and double-play turns (3-1 and 3-6-1 coverages).

  • Position Players: The position group carried out individual defensive drills before taking on-field batting practice, split into 15-minute group rounds.

The workout was directed by coaches José "El Toro" Macías and Luis Carlos Martínez, who are spearheading training camp pending the arrival of manager Lorenzo Bundy.

Among the players on the field today was right-handed pitcher Víctor "Sherman" Castañeda, who completed his second day working alongside the group.

"I’ve felt really good; I prepared intensely for this. I’m working hard on my pitching mechanics to reach 100 percent for the season," stated Castañeda after practice.

Additionally, "Sherman" delivered a message of commitment to the guinda fan base:

"Thank you so much for always keeping up with us. Have faith in me; I've worked extremely hard on my preparation, and I assure you we're going to come back at a very high level."

The Tomateros de Culiacán will continue their preseason workouts this Sunday at the ISDE facilities.
