CULIACÁN, SINALOA. – After concluding their road trip through Baja California, the Tomateros de Culiacán reassembled with a full squad at the ISDE training facilities, highlighted by the arrival of infielder Rosman Verdugo and American right-handed pitcher Robert Gsellman.
Practice got underway at 10:30 a.m., with a locked-in group focused on reaching peak form for opening day of the 2026-2027 Liga Mexicana del Pacífico Banamex season.
Throughout the session, the team continued fine-tuning defensive and offensive fundamentals. Meanwhile, pitchers Manny Barreda, David Gutiérrez, and José Carlo Meza saw action in live batting practice (Live BP) sessions.
The day featured key additions on the field as both Rosman Verdugo and Robert Gsellman officially reported to Guinda camp under the direction of manager Lorenzo Bundy.
Verdugo arrives in the Sinaloan capital following a standout summer in the San Diego Padres farm system, where he reached the Triple-A level and gained valuable high-level experience for his professional development.
"I feel really happy for this opportunity. I'm coming back more mature and with more experience under my belt," expressed Verdugo.
Meanwhile, Robert Gsellman completed his first workout in the Guinda jersey. The Santa Monica, California native, who brings seven years of Major League Baseball experience alongside a stint in Japanese baseball, joins the club to bolster the pitching staff ahead of the new campaign.
"I'm super excited to be here. I want to get in game shape to throw and win for this organization—I've heard that winning here is a blast," declared the right-handed pitcher.
This Saturday, the Tomateros de Culiacán will hold their next exhibition matchup when they face the Cañeros de Los Mochis in San Miguel Zapotitlán, Ahome, at 6:30 p.m.
