CULIACÁN, SINALOA. – Santiago Retamoza and Pedro Salas made their Mexican Baseball League (LMB) debuts in the very same game, and they did it working together. The catcher behind the plate and the right-handed pitcher on the mound—the same battery from spring training—now facing professional hitters against the Conspiradores de Querétaro at Parque Kukulcán.
Both are just 16 years old. Retamoza, a Tijuana native, was selected in the fifth round of the 2025 Draft and debuted behind the dish, calling the game from the very first pitch.
Salas, hailing from Aguascalientes, took the mound as the starting pitcher. He tossed one inning, issued one walk, and struck out two, retiring big-name veterans Yangervis Solarte and Yurisbel Gracial along the way in an impressive first outing.
Two "Guinda" prospects who launched their professional careers on the same day, forming the exact same battery. The Nación Guinda is keeping a close eye on them.
