CULIACÁN, SINALOA. – With the arrival of their first foreign import and two key domestic arms, the Tomateros de Culiacán completed their twelfth day of workouts at the ISDE facilities before embarking on their exhibition tour across Baja California Sur.
Cuban right-hander Norge Ruiz headlined the day's additions at guinda camp, reporting alongside right-handed pitchers David Gutiérrez and Rafael Castañeda to put themselves under the direction of manager Lorenzo Bundy and the coaching staff.
The squad reported at 8:30 A.M., plunging directly into the third intra-squad scrimmage of the preseason. During the scrimmage, the coaching staff closely monitored the pitching staff's progression and hitters' contact quality, evaluating the roster's competitive level just days ahead of their initial exhibition games.
The Cuban hurler, who brings U.S. professional baseball experience, initiated his conditioning and integration process with the team, expressing enthusiasm for putting on the guinda uniform:
"It's going to be something major in my career. I'm going to give 100 percent to represent these colors the absolute best I can," stated Ruiz.
