CULIACÁN, SINALOA. – Joey Meneses and young prospect Juan Fraide put on strong performances in MiLB, solidifying themselves as the Guindas of the Week.
On the offensive side, infielder Joey Meneses continues to shine with the Las Vegas Aviators, the Triple-A affiliate of the Athletics. "CabaJoey" proved his hot streak at the plate by racking up eight hits in five games for a .400 batting average, while driving in eight runs, scoring four times, and hitting a home run. The Culiacán native capped off an impressive week posting a .455 OBP, a .550 SLG, and an outstanding 1.005 OPS.
From the mound, right-hander Juan Fraide delivered an impeccable outing for the Fayetteville Woodpeckers, the Single-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. Fraide earned the win in his start after tossing 5.0 complete innings without allowing an earned run. The Empalme native fanned six batters, posted a miniscule 1.00 WHIP, and held opposing hitters to a paltry .176 batting average against.
The Nación Guinda keeps a close eye on their players throughout the summer.
