CULIACÁN, SINALOA. – While the primary roster faces competition in the "Baja Series," activity remains non-stop in the Sinaloan capital. A group of players continued their preparation workouts at the ISDE facilities, highlighted by the arrivals of shortstop Luis Roberto Verdugo and Gold Glove outfielder J.P. Martínez.
Both players reported to practice focused on reaching peak physical condition to contribute from day one of the 2026-2027 Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico season.
Luis Roberto Verdugo returns to the guinda organization following a breakout campaign in which he established himself as the everyday shortstop. The La Paz, Baja California native arrives after continuing his development during the summer in the San Diego Padres' Double-A affiliate.
"I'm very happy, ready for whatever the manager needs, and we are coming for that championship," Verdugo declared after finishing his first day of practice.
Meanwhile, J.P. Martínez headlined the additions in the outfield. The Cuban outfielder is coming off a brilliant debut season in culichi uniform, recording a team-leading 13 home runs, a league-leading 25 stolen bases across the LMP, and honors as the circuit's top center fielder after capturing the Gold Glove Award.
"It was a very special first season, I really enjoyed it, and that's why we are back. I'm healthy, fully past the injury, focused on what's ahead, and ready to bring all the excitement possible to the culichi fan base," emphasized the guinda outfielder.
The group remaining in the capital will continue its training sessions at ISDE, while the rest of the squad continues exhibition play in the Baja Series.
