Culiacán, Sinaloa. – The young talent of the Tomateros de Culiacán continues to showcase their exceptional quality in the minor leagues of the best baseball in the world, with Ichiro Cano and José Navarrete standing out as our top performers of the week.
Both players belong to the Cincinnati Reds organization. Cano, who played his most prominent role with the "Guinda" team during the most recent Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico (LAMP) season, is currently playing in Single-A. Meanwhile, pitcher José Navarrete, selected by our organization in the 2025 Draft, is currently competing in the Dominican Summer League.
San José del Cabo-born infielder Ichiro Cano put his offensive prowess on full display over five games, posting an impressive .389 batting average. Cano collected seven hits, one double, one home run, scored three runs, and drove in 10 runs. Additionally, he recorded a stellar .500 OBP, a .611 slugging percentage, and a massive 1.111 OPS.
On the other side of the ball, young right-handed pitcher José Navarrete delivered a dominant performance on the mound. Navarrete worked 5.0 complete innings, allowing just one hit while striking out four batters, shutting down the opposing offense and holding them to a miniscule .067 batting average against.
With performances like these, the young talent of the Tomateros de Culiacán continues to shine brightly throughout the Major League farm systems.
