CULIACÁN, SINALOA. – The Tomateros de Culiacán remain locked in on their preparation, holding another intense training session for the second consecutive day—featuring a second intra-squad scrimmage—and highlighting the arrival of left-handed pitcher Édgar Torres.
The customary team meeting led by the coaching staff marked the start of the eleventh day of activities at the ISDE facilities. Following warm-ups, catchers and infielders completed a round of individual and team defensive fundamentals.
Afterward, the guinda offense went through group batting practice before transitioning into the second intra-squad game of the preseason, where hitters continued logging live at-bats and the coaching staff closely evaluated the pitching staff.
The Puebla-native southpaw experienced his first moments with the guinda squad after joining the Tomateros de Culiacán via trade. Torres reported to camp eager to prepare for his debut campaign with the culichi franchise. He threw a bullpen session under the supervision of pitching coach Gabriel Luckert and bullpen coach Luis Vázquez, who also officially joined the coaching staff today.
"Being on this side of the field is magnificent. I'm here to contribute; thank God I have the versatility to both start and come out of the bullpen, and I enjoy both roles. I will do whatever is asked of me, and the goal is to win the championship," stated Édgar.
With the addition of new key pieces and continued live game action on the field, the Tomateros de Culiacán will resume training Tuesday morning prior to embarking on their preseason exhibition tour, which kicks off September 24 in La Paz.
