Hermosillo, Sonora - The Tomateros de Culiacán fell 7-2 in the series finale against the Naranjeros de Hermosillo, but leave Estadio Fernando Valenzuela on a high note after taking the series two games to one.

The home team built an early lead in the opening inning and never looked back to claim the final game of the matchup.

Culiacán got on the board in the fourth frame. Orlando Martínez and Ramiro Peña hit back-to-back singles to put runners on first and second, setting up an RBI single from Jon Singleton to drive home the Guindas' first run.

Tomateros struck again in the ninth inning when Luis Roberto Verdugo crushed a pitch deep over the left-field wall for his fifth home run of the campaign, setting the final 7-2 score.

Out of the bullpen, Baltazar Arredondo and Francisco Haro provided solid relief, combining for two scoreless innings while allowing just a single hit.

Despite the setback in the finale, manager Lorenzo Bundy's squad accomplished its objective by taking the series in Hermosillo with victories in the first two games.

Culiacán now returns home to Estadio Tomateros. Starting tomorrow at 7:05 PM, the Guindas will host the Jaguares de Nayarit for their first matchup of the season against the expansion side.
