With a solid combination of effective pitching and timely hitting, the Tomateros de Culiacán defeated the Cañeros de Los Mochis 3-2 in the opening game of their preseason series in San Miguel Zapotitlán.
The Guinda offense struck right out of the gate in the first inning. JP Martínez kicked off the game with a sharp double, and moments later, Cristian Lucero delivered an RBI single to bring home the night's opening run.
While the green squad quickly answered to tie the game, Culiacán pushed back ahead in the fifth inning when catcher Germán Revilla launched a solo home run to reclaim the lead. The team added its third run in the sixth frame courtesy of an RBI single to center field by Bryan Corral with runners aboard.
From the mound, the Guinda pitching staff put together an outstanding collective performance. Starter E. Torres logged three innings allowing just one run, while the bullpen preserved the win with solid outings from P. Reyes (2.0 IP), B. Arredondo (1.0 IP), R. Castañeda (2.0 IP with 3 strikeouts), and M. Urías, who slammed the door in the ninth inning to secure the victory.
With this win, the squad led by manager Lorenzo Bundy maintains a strong momentum as they build toward the 2026-2027 Liga Mexicana del Pacífico Banamex season. Both teams will resume action this Sunday when they face off again at 5:00 P.M.
